The Water District is a groundbreaking public-private partnership transforming Fort Lauderdale’s waterfront into a world-class destination, set to open late 2028. This ambitious project, representing a $220 million investment, unites five major attractions – including the International Swimming Hall of Fame Museum and the Fort Lauderdale Aquarium – within a 204,000-square-foot West Building. The Water District is designed to attract 300,000 to 400,000 visitors annually, fostering economic growth and cultural enrichment for the community. It will feature an immersive aquarium, a world-class dive tower, premium waterfront dining, an elevated public promenade, and direct Intracoastal access, creating a vibrant hub for locals and tourists alike. The project’s success is underpinned by a collaborative effort between Capital Group Ventures and the City of Fort Lauderdale, promising a transformative experience for all who visit.
