It was built at the turn of the 20th century by the Swedish physician and best selling author Axel Munthe (1857-1949). Today, Villa San Michele belongs to the Swedish State. Munthe's home is a fully furnished house museum with an important collection of sculptures and artifacts, mainly of ancient Roman, Egyptian and Etruscan origin. Villa San Michele's garden received the award as Italy's Most Beautiful Private Park in 2014 and is a member of the prestigious network Grandi Giardini. Villa San Michele is located in Anacapri, at the very top of the island. The view of the Gulf of Naples is breathtaking, as is the peace and magic of the Villa. Villa San Michele includes a beautiful roof top café and a museum shop and can be rented for private and business events.
