Worcester Emergency Communications Team

Worcester Emergency Communications Team (WECT) is a dedicated nonprofit organization providing vital communications support to the Central Massachusetts region, particularly during large-scale disasters and community events. As a team of volunteer amateur radio operators – including engineers, retired professionals, and local residents – we leverage our combined skills and FCC licenses to offer critical information gathering and tactical communications. We primarily serve the City of Worcester Division of Emergency Management and a range of charitable organizations, ensuring seamless coordination during events like marathons and triathlons. Operating as a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit and incorporated under the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, WECT relies on the generosity of our members and local businesses for equipment and material donations, demonstrating a strong commitment to community resilience. Our reach extends throughout Central Massachusetts, offering a reliable and responsive communications network when it matters most.
