YAGA is the fastest growing marketplace for preloved fashion in South Africa and Estonia. Yaga launched a pilot in Tallinn, Estonia and expanded to South Africa in early 2020 where Yaga shortly became the number one choice for South Africans for selling their preloved fashion pieces online. Fashion is one of the most polluting industries in the world - producing a single pair of jeans takes 7600L of water, and 33kg of CO2 is emitted. Establishing circular economy models is directly contributing to people's wellbeing and global sustainability. In 2022, Yaga's net revenue grew 2.3x (to €1M), MAU grew 2x, GMV grew 2.6x, and €12M worth of fashion items were sold on the platform (2x growth YoY). We raised a €2.35M seed round to scale up in South Africa and reach profitability. We support local communities by giving everyone the chance to start their online business on Yaga. Our goal is to make person-to-person buying and selling secondhand as easy and safe as possible. We truly believe in saving the world one t-shirt at a time - we aspire to help the next generation turn to a more sustainable consumption and see the future of shopping in the hands of individuals. This also means that the demand is driven by need, instead of retail giants and brands, as more and more people turn to second hand to contribute to sustainable lifestyle.
