Historien om Interflora
En genial ide fødes i Berlin….. Året er 1907, da den Berlinske blomsterhandler Max Hübner skaber ideen "Sig det med blomster" og dermed lægger grundstenen til vore dages Interflora.
Max Hübner begyndte at etablere private aftaler med andre blomsterhandlere i Berlin for at kunne modtage bestillinger i sin butik i midten af byen og få dem leveret gennem en kollega nærmere leveringsstedet. Ideen var enkel, men Max Hübner så mulighederne, og med imponerende indsats fik han i løbet af få år skabt et netværk af blomsterhandlere i hele Tyskland - og Max Hübner fortsatte arbejdet med at skabe kontakter over hele jorden.
Idéen kommer til Danmark
I 1919 stifter den driftige blomsterhandler Carl Jørgensen fra Vesterbrogade på rejser i Tyskland bekendtskab med blomsterformidling på tværs af de tyske byer. Carl Jørgensen ser straks mulighederne for en lignende ordning i den danske blomsterbranche.
I løbet af de følgende 6 år byggede han sit eget netværk op blandt danske blomsterhandlere. Netværket blev så omfattende at Carl Jørgensen i 1925 mødtes med en række blomsterhandlere i Odense, som førte til dannelsen af foreningen "Ekspreslevering af Blomster" – E.B. – hvor Carl Jørgensen naturligvis beklædte formandsposten i foreningens første år. Den nye forening var organisatorisk underlagt Dansk Blomsterhandlerforening, som hermed stod til det helt store gennembrud som en faglig landsforening for de danske blomsterhandlere.
Verdensorganisationen INTERFLORA stiftes i København
Efter Anden Verdenskrig blev det internationale samarbejde om blomsterformidling på tværs af landegrænser genoptaget, og ved en verdenskongres i København i juli 1946 stiftes INTERFLORA.
