Dagli anni '70 la famiglia Guerriero opera nella macellazione e lavorazione delle carni suine. Partiti da un piccolo allevamento di maiali, Giuseppe con l’aiuto della moglie nel periodo invernale forniva ai clienti un servizio completo macellando i propri animali e producendo con le loro carni vari tipi di salumi tipici della tradizione veneta. Italpizza nasce nel 1991 a Castello di Serravalle, un piccolo paese sulle colline bolognesi, e in pochi anni riesce a trasformare un’idea in una giovane e dinamica realtà industriale, specializzandosi nella produzione artigianale di pizze surgelate di alta qualità. Nel 1998 Italpizza concentra tutte le sue attività produttive a San Donnino (MO), in uno stabilimento di 5000 mq. A partire dai primi anni 2000, Italpizza sostiene importanti investimenti tecnologici volti ad incrementare la capacità produttiva pur mantenendo inalterate le caratteristiche tradizionali della pizza italiana: lievitazione della pasta per almeno 24 ore, stenditura manuale e cottura in forno a legna. La struttura viene ampliata fino a raggiungere i 20.000 mq attuali. Nel 2008 Bakkavor Group (UK) acquisisce il 90% di Italpizza. Nel 2014 inizia il processo di riacquisizione totale dell’azienda da parte del suo fondatore. Tale processo è stato finalizzato già nel 2015, con anticipo rispetto alla tempistica inizialmente concordata.
