Alaska Youth Orchestras is a nonprofit organization based in Anchorage, Alaska, dedicated to providing high-quality music education and performance opportunities for young musicians.

Since 1965, we’ve served over 500 students annually, from kindergarten through college, fostering a vibrant community of music lovers across Southcentral Alaska. Our programs, including the Anchorage Youth Symphony, Symphony School, and After School Music initiative, offer diverse pathways for musical growth and engagement.

We provide a supportive environment where students can develop their skills, build confidence, and explore their passion for music, preparing them for future success in professional music careers and beyond. We are committed to enriching the lives of young people through the transformative power of music, and building a strong foundation for a future generation of musicians and music enthusiasts.

Alaska Youth Orchestras is governed by a dedicated Board of Directors and led by Executive Director Denise Brown-Chythlook and Music Director Bruce Wood, Ph.D.
