Rochester Imagination Library is a Rochester, NY-based nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering early literacy and kindergarten readiness in children from birth to five. We mail free, high-quality books directly to the homes of families across the City of Rochester, removing barriers to access and empowering young learners. Partnering with United Way of Greater Rochester and the Finger Lakes, we’re building a stronger future for Rochester’s youngest residents. Our mission is to provide every child with the opportunity to develop a lifelong love of reading. Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library provides the logistical framework, while we focus on community engagement and impact.

Since launching in 2021, we’ve sent over 100,000 books to more than 4,600 children, demonstrating the power of accessible literacy. We’re committed to expanding our reach throughout Monroe County, bringing the joy of reading to even more families.

Our operations are remarkably efficient, with 90% of donations directly funding book purchases and mailing costs – a testament to our commitment to maximizing impact. We’re proud to be a trusted partner in supporting Rochester’s children and families.
