Assembly Required is a Baton Rouge, Louisiana-based nonprofit organization dedicated to catalyzing change in our community through civic and business innovation. We equip locals with the perspectives, relationships, and practical steps needed to drive impactful initiatives. We focus on dismantling barriers to opportunity, particularly for STARs – workers skilled through alternative routes – who represent a significant untapped talent pool in Louisiana and across the nation. Our work directly supports organizations like Steadfast Foundation and Baton Rouge Youth Coalition, empowering individuals to achieve economic mobility. We are proud to partner with leaders like the Louisiana Workforce Commission and organizations such as ThreeSixtyEight to address the ‘paper ceiling’ and create a more inclusive economy for all Louisianans.

Assembly Required’s core mission is to address the systemic barriers faced by STARs – over one million individuals in Louisiana alone – who are often overlooked due to a reliance on traditional four-year degrees. We achieve this through strategic events, such as the UNTAPPED film screening, which sparks critical conversations and fosters collaboration among community leaders, employers, and STARs themselves. Our events are designed to inspire action and drive tangible change.

Key differentiators include our focus on STARs, our commitment to dismantling the ‘paper ceiling,’ and our collaborative approach, working with organizations like Myles, The SpringHill Company, and the Ad Council to amplify our impact. We are a non-profit with 11 staff members, dedicated to building a more equitable and prosperous future for Louisiana.
