Durham Sports Commission is a Durham, North Carolina-based nonprofit organization dedicated to driving economic and social impact through the promotion and hosting of sporting events. We’re a team of 8 professionals focused on attracting national championships, regional events, and youth competitions to Durham, creating a vibrant sports culture for our community. Our goal is to leverage Durham’s central location and established sports infrastructure to benefit local businesses, residents, and athletes alike.

We work closely with event owners, families, and athletes, ensuring seamless event planning and exceptional experiences. From fencing to football and youth to professional, we’ve proven to be a top host for a wide variety of sporting events, while also ensuring the events we bring in create positive economic and social impact to our Durham community.

As the ‘City of Champions,’ Durham offers a unique blend of history, accessibility, and enthusiasm, making it an ideal destination for sporting events. We’re proud to contribute to Durham’s thriving sports ecosystem and welcome visitors to experience the excitement and hospitality of our city.

In 2017-2025, we generated an economic impact of $128,870,549, supported 34 sports facilities, and hosted 335 events, attracting 586,570 attendees. We continue to grow and expand our reach, solidifying Durham’s position as a premier sports destination.
