Our story begins in 1884 when an artisanal gelato maker of Neapolitan origins, Domenico Pepino, decided to move north, more precisely, to Turin. In addition to bringing his family of ice creamers, he brought all the tools, molds and materials for producing and packaging his cold pastry specialties. Within a few years, he opened an ice cream parlor. "Vera Gelateria Artigiana"​ - True Artisanal Gelato - served as the slogan, and it soon became the symbol of Turin's greatest cold pastry. On June 17, 1916, Domenico Pepino sold the brand and manufacturing secrets, for the important sum of 10,000 lire, to Com. Giuseppe Feletti, already a well known and established industrial chocolate manufacturer, and his son in law Com. Giuseppe Cavagnino. By always maintaining high standards of quality, innovating, constantly renewing the product line, Gelati Pepino has received 4 Coats of Arms, between 1910 and 1932, making it the real gelato "Supplier of the Royal House"​ 1939 was a pivotal year in the company's history. After a long period of experimentation and study, Gelati Pepino finally patented and marketed the first gelato in the world to be served on a stick covered by chocolate: Pinguino® - the Penguin - (Patent No. 58033). At that time, a Pinguino® cost 1 Lira – the same as the cinema. The success of the Pinguino® remains incredible: the original recipe stands the test of time and the care put into producing the Pinguino® make it a gelato imitated all around the world.

La nostra storia comincia negli anni ‘80 ed è prima di tutto la storia di Sabato Bruno che in 35 anni ha trasformato un piccolo laboratorio di pasticceria a Castel San Giorgio, alle porte di Salerno, in una grande azienda di croissanterie specializzata nel mercato del food service: la San Giorgio Dolce & Salato. Con impegno e dedizione, il piccolo laboratorio delle origini è diventato uno stabilimento industriale che produce eccellenza: la passione di Sabato, condivisa dai figli Antonino e Ivan, associata agli impianti produttivi e di conservazione di ultima generazione sono stati e sono le fondamenta della continua crescita dell’azienda. Oggi San Giorgio vanta una ricchissima varietà di assortimento, frutto del lavoro e della ricerca di una squadra di 150 persone e di una struttura con 15 linee produttive, 6.000 posti pallet e un parco automezzi in grado di garantire una copertura capillare sul territorio. Surgital is Italy’s leading producer of deep-frozen fresh pasta, deep-frozen ready meals, and sauces in cubes for the HoReCa sector and the bar channel. The production site is located in Lavezzola, in the province of Ravenna, in addition to two commercial branches in France (Lyon) and the United States (Miami), and the presence of direct Area Managers in Germany and the UK. The 2017 consolidated turnover was 75 million euro, 60% of which from the Italian market. The largest share of exports is represented by the European market. The HoReCa and the Food Service sectors alone represent 87% of the total turnover. Established by the Bacchini family in 1980 as a small artisanal workshop, they successfully introduced the wholesomeness of their products on an industrial scale, arriving at producing 135 tonnes of fresh pasta, 60,000 single-portion ready meals and 8 tonnes of sauces in cubes every day, engaging over 340 employees. Twenty-nine lines that produce traditional Italian recipes are active on a surface area of 60,000 square metres (of which 30,000 square metres of covered production area), with special attention to the conservation process, which does not include any additives, but just the application of cold technology: the products are prepared with the same care with which they would be made at home and immediately chilled in order to keep the flavours and nutritional properties intact. Our history begins in 1964 when Giuseppe Gobino, thanks to his experience gained since 1950 in cocoa refining, joins the business as head of the production. He becomes sole owner in 1980, focusing on developing chocolate production. Giuseppe started prioritising local products such as Giandujotto and Gianduja spread cream. The family tradition is renewed at the beginning of the 90s, with a profound restructuring of production processes, always respecting the original recipes from Turin. In this period the real entrepreneurial journey started, with the constant creation of new products and the development in taste for the traditional chocolates. The focus is now on reaching the highest qualitative standards, using the best raw materials and the extrusion technique that allows obtaining Giandujotti e Tourinot® just like the past. The first decade of the XXI century has been quite eventful, in 2003 we completely revamped our production plant and in 2007 opened our first Bottega, in via Lagrange, Turin. In 2008 we presented two beloved creations: the N’Uovo (designed by Pininfarina) and the sea salt Cremino which won the prize as best praline in the world at the Academy of Chocolate of London. 2010 was the year we first arrived in Milan, with our first Bottega in Corso Garibaldi. We continued our growth with the opening of the Bottega at Turin International Airport in 2014.
