In-Center Hemodialysis uses an artificial kidney machine to cleanse the blood and remove excess body fluids. An access device called a fistula or graft is placed in an arm or leg, or temporary access through a hemodialysis catheter is placed in the neck. Both access devices allow the connection of the bloodstream to the artificial kidney, where it is cleansed and returned to the patient.
