Neutron Star Systems is a leading market enabler for high power space missions. We develop disruptive and robust electric propulsion (EP) systems and subsystems based on the latest superconductor technology. This unique space electric propulsion technology is suitable for three main markets: • Automated Transfer Vehicles for spacecraft servicing, • Lunar and cis-lunar transportation, and; • Mars cargo missions. NSS is developing the SUPREME thruster – an EP technology that offers a unique combination of features based on superior operational flexibility, scalability, cost-effectiveness, and thrust efficiency compared to the competition. In high-power applications, the SUPREME thruster outperforms status-quo EP technology, cutting costs by millions of euros through propellant mass savings. The SUPREME thruster is a magnetoplasmadynamic (MPD) thruster. Unlike other potential high-power EP systems, MPD thrusters have a 60-year research heritage and their technology is well understood. Furthermore, they are far simpler and more reliable than potential competitors such as VASIMR. MPD thrusters have been previously limited by the large mass of the electrical components. With the introduction of high temperature superconductors (HTS), these obstacles can be overcome. Through the SUPREME consortium, we have built a unique network of actors which bring together the technological knowledge and experience required to develop this technology. This consists of prestigious research institutions such as the Institute of Space Systems at the University of Stuttgart, a major industrial prime in Airbus Defence & Space, several expert SMEs, and the German Aerospace Center. This consortium is a fundamental part of our network of partners ready to support our technology development program starting with a 5 kW technology demonstrator to reach TRL 5 and subsequently to develop a 20 kW thruster prototype together with our primes and major stakeholders.

Thinking above and beyond is what we do. For more than 85 years, we’ve been reimagining the experience of flight – and where it can take us. We are pioneers. We were the first to break the sound barrier and to certify a commercial helicopter. We were aboard NASA’s first lunar mission and brought advanced tiltrotor systems to market. Today, we’re defining the future of on-demand mobility. Headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas – as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Textron Inc., – we have strategic locations around the globe. And with nearly one quarter of our workforce having served, helping our military achieve their missions is a passion of ours. Above all, our breakthrough innovations deliver exceptional experiences to our customers. Efficiently. Reliably. And always, with safety at the forefront. At a Glance: • Founded: July 1935, by Larry Bell • First helicopter flew in 1942 • Certified the first commercial helicopter in 1946 • First tiltrotor flew in 1955 • Nearly 60% of helicopters produced are Bell • 98% of all helicopter missions were pioneered in a Bell product • 8,500+ employee Nous pensons au-delà du vol. Nous avons redéfini l’expérience de vol – et où elle peut nous transporter- depuis plus de 85 ans. As a vertically integrated organization, we rarely have to set foot outside Ascent to procure key elements of the supply chain. It gives us greater control over timing and schedules, allows for 100% accountability, and avoids costly mark-ups. It’s no surprise, then, that our customers include the biggest and best names in aerospace. Virtually every western commercial aircraft in production today is made using our technology, machines and systems.

Behind each industrial revolution there is a disruptive technology or process. Our team exists to make the most complex systems easier to use and available to all types of customers. Our scalable standard products address our customer’s needs rapidly and they no longer need to wait for custom-made solutions. The technology that we are developing for our longer term ambitions has raised more interest than we ever thought. Our first product is a Micro CMG. Large satellites have used this actuator technology for decades. We miniaturized it for small satellites applications and made it modular & scalable. A control moment gyroscope (CMG) is an attitude control unit (actuator) consisting of a spinning rotor (also referred as a fly wheel) and one or more motorized gimbals that tilt the rotor’s angular momentum. As the rotor tilts, the changing angular momentum causes a gyroscopic torque that rotates the spacecraft. With this technology, we can easily increase the agility of your satellites. Interested?
