Hill Country Conservancy marshals public and private resources to preserve the natural areas and scenic vistas, aquifers and springs, rivers and streams, working farms and ranches, and the rural heritage of the Central Texas Hill Country for people to enjoy and cherish for generations to come. We believe that the region’s prosperity is inextricably tied to its natural landscape and quality of life. People – and companies – move here, and want to stay here, because it’s a wonderful, beautiful place to be. But growth has consequences. The more land we develop, the less rainwater makes it back into the aquifers and springs; the greater the risk of fragmenting the contiguous habitat native wildlife need to survive; the scarcer the wild, open spaces that make the Hill Country such a special and unique place to live. We believe the future economic success of Central Texas and the Hill Country is tied to how well we balance our growth and the preservation of these precious natural resources.

As wildfires destroy more forestland every year, Mast is scaling post-wildfire reforestation in Western North America. Mast has created the carbon market's first restorative carbon removal pathway, funding resilient reforestation through the durable burial of burned biomass. The carbon contained in fire-killed trees is removed by burial, credited, and sold to finance restoration and reforestation. Mast owns and operates two of the largest wild tree seed and seedling nurseries in the West, 150-year-old Silvaseed and Cal Forest, which are crucial hubs in the U.S. forestry supply chain essential for wildfire recovery. Mast grows the majority of seedlings for California and manages the majority of seed for the 11 western states. Since its founding, Mast has restored thousands of acres across California, Montana, and Oregon. Producing an average of 36 million seedlings annually, Mast continues to cultivate and protect the biological legacy of Western conifer forests for future generations. Founded in 2017, Nori is on a mission to scale carbon removal, with the ultimate goal of reversing climate change. Our fully integrated carbon removal issuing program, registry, and marketplace simplifies a complicated market, increasing transparency, trust, efficiency, and impact for buyers and sellers alike. We make it easy for businesses to drive positive climate impact by giving them access to verified carbon removal credits that support regenerative farmers in the US, help scale the technology underpinning promising durable solutions, and can be integrated directly into products. For suppliers, we streamline the process of developing, verifying, and selling carbon removal credits, so that they can focus on what they do best — removing carbon from the atmosphere. We also engage with federal agencies and policymakers to advocate for supplier-enabling policies and consistent definitions and standards that help inspire confidence in the market. Collectively, we have to remove between 5 and 10 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere each year to reach global climate mitigation targets – and even more to drive climate change in reverse. Nori enables everyone to participate with confidence because every tonne counts.

Over millions of years, silicate rock weathering has regulated Earth’s climate. By crushing silicate rocks and spreading them on agricultural soils - an approach called Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW) - we can accelerate Earth’s natural process into a solution capable of addressing the urgency of climate change. Existing agricultural and silicate rock sites - namely 5,000+ global silicate rock quarries surrounded by agricultural land - have the potential to remove billions of tonnes of CO2 with enhanced rock weathering. Despite this potential, ERW hasn’t scaled given the extraordinary scientific, technological, and operational challenges involved. Terradot, founded out of the Stanford ecosystem, is addressing these challenges by advancing the science, building the technology, and assembling the coalition needed to make this potential a reality. We’ve started in Brazil – one of the world’s most optimal locations for ERW thanks to its tropical soils, strength in agriculture, and clean electricity grid. There, we are building the most ambitious ERW hub to date. This hub will drive the necessary breakthroughs in ERW science, ensuring every tonne of carbon dioxide removed is measured and tracked with certainty. These insights will power digital tools for the optimization and verification of carbon removal projects, enabling the replicability of these hubs globally If successful, this approach will uniquely and rapidly catalyze global-scale carbon removal, enabling the transformation of [300] such quarries in Brazil and [5,000+] global quarries into carbon removal hubs. Terradot has assembled a growing team of leading scientists and engineers with decades of published research (over 100,000 citations on ERW) and hands-on expertise in related fields, providing unmatched experience to drive advancements in ERW.
