Das Projekt wurde 2017 mit dem Digitale Innovationen Award des Bundeswirtschaftsministeriums ausgezeichnet. Bluebird Mountain entwickelt derzeit PowderBuddy. PowderBuddy ist der erste Flugroboter zur automatischen Ortung von Verschütteten. Der faltbare Quadkopter wird in einem Abschussmechanismus am Rucksack mitgeführt. Im Ernstfall wird PowderBuddy von den Nutzer/innen mittels Reißleine ausgelöst, aus dem Rohr katapultiert und verfolgt die Nutzer/innen autonom oberhalb der Lawine.
