The Italian American Museum of Los Angeles, or IAMLA, is located in the historic Italian Hall, which was constructed in 1908 to serve as a gathering place for the Italian community. Today, the Italian Hall is the oldest remaining structure from Los Angeles' Italian enclave, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The IAMLA opened in 2016, and is jointly operated by the Historic Italian Hall Foundation and the City of Los Angeles. Although Los Angeles is home to the nation's fifth-largest Italian American population, the community's history, which predates California's statehood, was seldom explored until recently. By examining Southern California's Italian roots, the IAMLA aims to promote understanding about a region and its history that is a microcosm of the nation and the world. The 5,000-square-foot IAMLA presents the Southern California Italian American experience with an emphasis on Los Angeles, a story that is inextricably linked to the region itself and represents a unique chapter of the Italian American Diaspora. Admission is free; donations are encouraged. The IAMLA's permanent exhibition consists of seven individual color-coded exhibits, which are arranged chronologically and thematically. Documentary-style videos, projected onto large, smart glass panels, provide an overview of each exhibit. The complete exhibition can be found on the tablet attached to each exhibit's corresponding artifact case. Exhibition content is also accessible online via Google Cultural Institute. The IAMLA also presents a variety of cultural and educational programming, temporary exhibitions, and events.

“The library of today is not just a collection of books or a place to study - it is a space for multicultural contacts, digital enlightenment, creation, imagination and discovery. Embracing all these aspirations, we have evolved into a dynamic provider of total design solutions to libraries and other public spaces - working hard to create tomorrow’s library, today. Library Design is what defines us as a company. We work with a space in which we add ideas, experience, competence, and specialist products to create a library” Daniela Hislop - Director "Our vision is a sustainable society where future generations will have the same opportunities as we have today. To achieve this goal, our mission is to encourage sustainable consumerism. Our products and projects generate good aesthetics and optimal functionality within libraries all over the world. However, this must not be achieved at the expense of the environment. We want to influence the furniture and interiors sector to take environmental and social responsibility. By being a good employer, a responsible regional actor, and by offering a more sustainable alternative for our customers, we contribute to the United Nations Sustainability Goals" Mikael Stigaard Kjeldsen - CEO

In June 2019, the brand new Explore & More - The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Children’s Museum opened its doors to the Western New York Community. This $29 million capital project was a 7-year undertaking, which allowed Explore & More to grow from a 5,000 square-foot building located in East Aurora with about 60,000 visitors a year to a 43,000 square-foot state-of-the-art facility in downtown Buffalo with an estimate of 200,000+ guests per year. Our all-new, world-class children’s museum is gaining national and international attention as a game-changer for our region in terms of economic and early childhood development. Explore & More is the only hands-on, interactive children’s museum in the eight Western New York counties. Beyond that, the closest children’s museum comparable to ours is in Cleveland, Ohio. While the Strong Museum is similar, it is registered as an American history museum, and more than half of the collections are untouchable. Explore & More offers activities that reach diverse audiences including: • Year-round creative learning experiences for families at the Museum. • Outreach to bring free informal learning opportunities to children in underserved locations. • Transportation Fund to bus Title 1 schools from Erie and Niagara county to the Museum for free. • Monthly free programming for children and their families with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other processing disorders. • Cultural programs that foster connections to diverse populations. • Updating and changing exhibits and programming to meet community need. We believe every child deserves the opportunity to explore activities that inspire creativity, curiosity and imagination. It is our goal to be a leader in providing engaging experiences that spark learning and growth through play. Mission Statement: The Explore & More Mission - To provide the best-in-class play experiences where all children, families and the community can explore, learn and develop together.
