Appliances Recycling S.A. is the official collective system for the Alternative Management of the Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) in Greece.
The role of the company is to organize, coordinate and supervise all stages of the electric and electronic waste management, including collection, transport, temporary storage, reuse and treatment of WEEE, so that hazardous substances are eliminated and recovered marerials are streamed back into production.

PEDvolution is a European project, co-funded by the Horizon Europe program, which paves the way for cross-sectoral integration of ever-evolving Positive Energy Districts (PEDs).
Οver a duration of three years, consisting of three consecutive phases: analyse, co-develop, and demonstrate, European pioneers in PED conceptualisation, implementation and tool development will co-develop and implement seven interoperable solutions accommodating the constant evolution of PEDs:
1) PED Design and Planning Toolset
2) PED Readiness Assessment
3) Dynamic Decision Support Guideline for PED Development
4) PED Energy Manager
5) Data Exchange, Integration and Interoperability Platform
6) PED Business Models
7) Social Innovation tool
These PEDvolution solutions will evaluate and improve the ‘PED Readiness Level’ according to the four genes of the PED genotype: social, technology, interoperability, and market. These are influenced by their interaction within the PED and its environment (PED phenotype).
At least 6 real-life PEDs across Europe, will provide a demonstration and validation environment for the solutions, paving the way for replication, upscaling and mainstreaming.
3 Co-developer PED demonstration sites are already defined:
1) Schönbrunn village, Wunsiedel, Germany
2) Residential neighbourhood Planina, Kranj, Slovenia
3) Gemeinschaft Hard, Winterthur, Switzerland

Cell of Alternative Youth Activities - KEAN is an inclusive youth society. The organization’s main goal is to pursue activities leading to the improvement of the quality of life focusing on the protection of the environment including the promotion of new technologies, youth education and youth rights. In KEAN we strongly believe that quality of life presupposes the existence of a healthy participatory democratic society. The UNESCO Chair, through the ESU Research Unit, is incorporated in the Sector of Industrial Management & Operational Research of the School of Mechanical Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens.

The need for all of us to have cleaner, more aesthetically pleasing, healthier places to live in, unites us so that together we can act immediately and see our neighborhoods change for the better.
The Save Your Hood movement came as a thought during the first lockdown (spring 2020), and then came into being during the second (autumn 2020). Since then, it has been growing exponentially throughout Greece and has quickly expanded to neighboring countries.
Now, people not only in Greece, but also in Cyprus, Turkey, Romania and elsewhere, are acting in their neighborhoods, giving a positive message to our fellow citizens and bringing about a much-needed change!
Our need to change the way we interact with waste of all kinds has found fertile ground and has changed our environment and communities forever!

Established in 1989, the International Conference on Environmental Science and Technology (CEST) is a leading environmental conference where top experts, scientists, entrepreneurs, representatives of public administration and social initiatives present state-of-the-art research on current and emerging environmental issues. CEST is thus a platform where academia and business converge; where academic research, innovative ideas and solutions serve as the basis for a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable environment.
The conference is organised by the Global Network of Environmental Science and Technology together with the University of the Aegean (Greece) and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (Greece). CEST2021 is academically supported by the University of Salerno (Italy), the University of Cincinnati (USA) and the Imperial College London (UK) as well as a group of distinguished scientists – the members of the Conference Scientific Committee. CEST2021 is under the patronage of UNESCO’s Water Assessment Programme, International Water Association (IWA), A.C. Laskaridis Charitable Foundation. and under the auspices of the Municipality of Athens. The event will be held in Athens from 1 to 4 September 2021.
The previous event, CEST2019, was a great success with 420 participants from 81 countries originating from 6 continents (Europe, Asia, Africa, North America, South America and Australia). The programme included over 550 presentations (oral and poster) from 28 unique research areas. Participants also benefited from the interaction with 25 distinguished scientists that were invited and delivered
keynote and plenary talks.

Στην προσπάθειά του αυτή συνδράμουμε με την πραγματοποίηση εισηγήσεων/σεμιναρίων επί όλων των προαναφερθέντων θεμάτων, τη δε κατάρτιση των συμμετεχόντων σε αυτά, ελέγχουμε και μέσω Ασκήσεων.
Μας ενδιαφέρει η προστασία του θαλασσίου περιβάλλοντος σε ουσιαστικό επίπεδο, το οποίο για να επιτευχθεί, οφείλει να ξεκινήσει από τον ίδιο τον προσβληθέντα, αλλά ακόμα και τον ενδεχόμενο ρυπαντή, ώστε η αντιμετώπιση ενός συμβάντος να είναι κατά το δυνατότερο άμεση και συνεπώς αποτελεσματική.
