Falling Forward® is fighting an issue that few people have heard of, but it impacts tens of thousands of people every year. Virtually all medical insurance policies have a "therapy cap" --- a limit on how much rehabilitation (like physical therapy) will be covered by insurance. Every year, over 1 million people suffer traumatic brain injuries, strokes and spinal cord injuries! These people need a LOT of rehabilitation to recover and resume a happy, productive life. They do not get as much rehab as they need, because of therapy caps. Sadly, they face a life of disability. We're changing that. We raise money that funds continued rehabilitation after insurance benefits run out. We're proving that RECOVERY IS POSSIBLE WITH ADEQUATE REHABILITATION! See for yourself. Check out the videos on our homepage www.fallingforward.org Each person has gone from "disability" to "ABILITY"! Join us. WE STAND FOR ABILITY®!

Dogs for the Disabled ethically breed and train dogs to assist with practical, everyday tasks to help a person with a physical disability live life to the full, thus breaking down barriers to the outside world and helping to improve confidence and lower stress levels for their partners. Each Assistance Dog is specifically trained to help his or her new partner but is also reliant on them to provide for their needs including exercise, feeding, love and care. These new responsibilities encourage their partner to become more active and outgoing in the community by taking their assistance dog for walks and engaging with the public at large. Thus increasing confidence and encouraging them to take up new activities e.g. sport, joining a club, returning to work or further education. Our partnerships have found the experience of getting an assistance dog life changing. We have a very strict policy that no money exchanges hands for any of our dogs, for any specific child or adult. This is to ensure we retain legal ownership of each dog throughout their lifetime, which enables us to maintain their welfare and also that beneficiaries receive their dog based on NEED and not financial status. We receive no government funding but year on year, with your continued help and support, we can grow and continue to create more powerful partnerships, opening more doors to change lives.

Whilst many of us may be aware of the traditional and fine almshouse buildings dotted all over the UK, few perhaps realise how vibrant and relevant the almshouse movement is today and how it continues to provide a strong sense of community; offering safety and security, and making it possible for those in need to continue to live independently, in a locality of their choice, often near to families. At a time when there is a severe shortage of affordable rental accommodation, the role of almshouse charities is now more vital than ever. In some rural areas, almshouses are the only provider of accommodation for those in need. Almshouses are managed by volunteers (Trustees), usually people who want to become involved in their local almshouses in order to preserve good quality accommodation for people in need in their area. There is a certain amount of regulation and administration which has to be handled and The Association assists and advises on this. Trustees’ support ensures the residents retain their dignity, freedom and independence by allowing them to live their lives as they see fit within a safe and secure environment. Almshouse charities today have to invest heavily in the modernisation and updating of almshouse dwellings to provide 21st century living, either in building new, contemporary, purpose built flats and bungalows or by refurbishing their (often listed) buildings. Standards of accommodation are continually rising, with technology playing an increasing part in making life easier. Disabled access, internet connection, electronic doors and sophisticated alarms all contribute to towards enabling residents to remain independent in their homes for as long as possible. Running a charity and navigating all the legislation governing the provision of homes and their upkeep, raising funds and managing finances can be challenging. The Association helps almshouse charities by providing member charities with support, guidance, representation and funding.

Creative Mentor Network trains mentors and connects them with diverse young talent. We believe that talented people can create positive social change, whatever sector they work in. Research from the Educational Endowment Foundation shows that young people who make at least 4 professional connections before they leave school are 5 times more likely to become employed and earn up to 18% more. But not all young people have access to the networks they need to build those connections. We work directly with schools across London to connect talented young people from diverse backgrounds, with those working in the creative industries. Over our 16 week Mentor Development Programme, we develop creative industry employees as impactful mentors and inspiring leaders – allowing them to play an active part in diversifying the industry and to develop themselves in one go.
